Charlotte, in the state of North Carolina, is considered as the largest city within the State. It is the 17th largest city within the United States of America based on its population. It is also known as the second largest financial area in terms of financial assets within the country, coming in after New York City. Big companies such as Wells Fargo and Bank of America are located in Charlotte and is also the home of several sports teams such as the National Basketball Association’s Charlotte Bobcats and the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers. The city of Charlotte is also fondly known and the “Queen City”.
The city of Charlotte boasts a variety of museums such as Carolina Aviation Museum, Levine Museum of the New South, Discovery Place, Wells Fargo History Museum and many more. It also gives importance to the performing arts and provides locals and tourists alike with venue places such as the Carolina Actors Studio Theatre, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Opera Carolina and ImaginOn to name a few.
One of the famous venue places within the city of Charlotte is known as the Time Warner Cable Arena, formerly called the Charlotte Bobcats Arena. This sports and entertainment venue is conveniently located within the center city of Charlotte and is considered as the home court of the National Basketball Association’s Charlotte Bobcats and the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers. The arena was first opened to the public in 2005 and houses what is known as the Daktronics video screen. The Time Warner Cable Arena can seat an approximate of 19,077 spectators during professional basketball games. Asides from being a regular sports venue, the arena plays host to a variety of events such as the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
Another popular venue in the city of Charlotte is the Ovens Auditorium, located near another venue called Bojangle’s Coliseum. The auditorium was first opened to the public in 1955 and has since then played host to a wide variety of events such as Broadway musicals, live concerts, family oriented shows, graduation ceremonies and much more. The Ovens Auditorium can accommodate and approximate of 2,455 people and at one point was considered by POLLSTAR as one of the top theaters in the world.
The Belk Theater, a part of the Blumenthal Performing Arts, is also found within the city of Charlotte. It is considered to be the largest amongst those within the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and can accommodate and approximate of 2,100 people. This particular theater boasts of having great stage equipment and can host a wide variety of performances which can range from rock concerts to operatic performances.
