Oklahoma City, the largest city within the state of Oklahoma, is also known as the state’s capital. Currently the 30th most populated city within the country, it is also considered as the 8th largest city within the United States of America. The local economy of the city is very much thriving which boasts industries in petroleum, natural gas and oil.

Oklahoma City is also home to a variety of establishments which help showcase the city’s local arts and culture scenes. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art showcases a variety of exhibits, a restaurant and an in-house theater which features a variety of local and foreign films. Other establishments which feature entertaining and cultural performance include the Civic Center Music Hall, the Stage Center for the Performing Arts, the Poteet Theatre, the Kirkpatrick Auditorium and the Lyric Theatre. Asides from cultural establishments, Oklahoma City is home to many beautiful landmarks such as the Myriad Botanical Gardens and the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden.

The Chesapeake Energy Arena, located within the downtown area of Oklahoma City, was formerly called the Oklahoma City Arena and the Ford Center and can accommodate an approximate of 18,203 people. This multi-purpose arena is the current home to several sports teams which include the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association and the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL (until 2009). Asides from hosting many sporting events, the Chesapeake Energy Arena also plays host to a variety of live performances and events which include civic events, ice shows, conventions, social events, family occasions and large concerts.

Another venue located within the city of Oklahoma is the Civic Music Hall. This performing arts center, founded in 1937, is home to a variety of venues which include The Joel Levine Rehearsal Hall, the Meinders Hall of Mirrors, City Space, the Freede Little Theatre and the Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre. Collectively, the performing arts center is able to showcase hundreds of performances every year. Also housed in the Oklahoma Civic Music Hall is a volunteer group known as STARS. In addition to this, the music hall serves as the home to several arts organizations which include the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Oklahoma City Theatre Company, the Black Liberated Arts Center, Celebrity Attractions and many more.

The Cox Convention Center, also known as the Cox Business Services Convention Center is also located within the downtown area of Oklahoma City. This multi-purpose complex has many functions and can ideally be used as a venue to hold large gatherings, conventions as well as other events such as conferences and concerts. Its arena can accommodate an approximate of 15,000 people and features other venues ideal for conventions, meetings and conferences.
