Greensboro, located within the State of North Carolina, is the third most populated city within the state. It is also part of the Triad, a metropolitan area which includes two other cities, Winston-Salem and High Point. During the early 1900’s, the city of Greensboro had evolved economically and had eventually become a hub for the transportation and textile industries.

There are many places to visit in the city of Greensboro. The city is abundant with a variety of museums such as the International Civil Rights Center and Museum as well as other destination attractions such as the Bog Garden, the Bicentennial Garden, the Greensboro Center City Park, the Greensboro Arboretum and many others. Greensboro gives importance to the arts and features a variety of local theaters which showcases an equal variety of live performances. Asides from museums, theaters and parks, the city of Greensboro is also home to a wide array of shopping centers and restaurants such as the Four Seasons Town Centre and the Shoppes at Friendly Center to name a few. The city also features the world’s largest retail horse depot in the world, which opened in 1894.

One of the famous venue hotspots in Greensboro is the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, which opened to the public in 1959 and can accommodate an approximate of 23,500 people. This sports and entertainment complex is located within the neighborhood of Glenwood. This complex houses the Greensboro Coliseum, also known as the Coliseum. Throughout the years, this coliseum has played host to a variety of events which have included the campaign of Richard Nixon, many sporting events and many live concerts with the Monkees performing the coliseum’s first major concert event. At one point, the Greensboro Coliseum had played host to several reality TV tryouts for the X-Factor and American Idol.

The War Memorial Auditorium is also part of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex and is considered as one the oldest structures on the property and can accommodate about 2,460 people. Originally, the auditorium was built to accommodate performing arts events. Many artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and James Brown have performed on stage here. In addition to this, it has also played host to a series of events such as concerts, religious gatherings, theatrical performances and town meetings.

Another event venue located within the Greensboro Coliseum Complex is the ACC Hall of Champions. It was opened to the public on March of 2011 and was initially created to pay tribute to the ACC Tournaments. This venue place also features a variety of exhibits and showcases a wide variety of memorabilia.
