Some people get famous for writing really good songs for other artists before they become smash hit performers themselves. Luke Bryan may have been one of the most popular country singers to follow in this tradition. Luke Bryan started out as a songwriter way back in the mid-2000’s. On September 1 of 2001, barely two months following his move to Nashville, Tennessee, Bryan was successful in nabbing a contract as a songwriter. His first projects included songs written for Travis Tritt and Billy Currington such as Honky-Tonk History and Good Directions.
He started his musical career at the age of fourteen when his parents bought him his first guitar. He started out with several country bands and played locally at bars and little pub houses. After graduating from high school he originally intended to move to Nashville, Tennessee and pursue his musical career but his brother Chris passed away on the very same day he intended to leave. He then later decided to work for his dad despite everyone pushing for him to pursue his musical dreams. It was his dad who persuaded him to leave home and give the musical career a shot.
Just two days after and he was already on his way to success. He was writing music for Capitol Records. His very first single was “All My Friends Say” which was also co-written and produced by Jeff Stevens. The song was a smash hit and brought Luke Bryan critical acclaim, paving the way for his debut album. I’ll Stay Me was released in August of 2007. The album saw the release of two singles, both of which made their mark on the US charts. This was then followed by his second album, Doin’ My Thing, which many praised to be a more influential work of art. It was more relaxed and had more soul to its writing, stepping a bit away from the honky tonk style of the first album. His third album, Tailgates and Tanlines, saw an August release in 2011. The album has seen four singles released, the latest being Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye. The song was just pushed out for radio release last August 6, 2012.
