TCU Horned Frogs Tickets

Texas Christian University student and alumni will never forget Super Frog – the mascot of the university’s athletic branch, the TCU Horned Frogs. Just like most of the colleges in the country, the TCU’s sports teams are participating in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), specifically the Division I. Their football team is competing in the Big 12 Conference in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The TCU Horned Frogs has 18 varsity teams as of now including football, basketball, track and field, golf, volleyball and many more. The athletic teams of TCU started its independent life in 1914 and were part of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association from 1914 to 1920. In 1923, the TCU Horned Frogs joined the Southwest Conference until the 1995-96 season in which the other colleges/university in SWC defected to Big 8 Conference in which the Big 12 Conference was formed. In 1996, the TCU Horned Frogs joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) until 2000. The next year, they joined the Conference USA up to 2004. From 2005 up to July 1, 2012, the TCU was part of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Currently, they are part of the Big 12 Conference, but before that, they are invited to play in the Big East Conference. They changed their decision and decided to joined the Big 12.

Football wise, the TCU Horned Frogs can compete in the powerhouses of collegiate football. The football team has won several bowls in their different stints in various conferences. However, their national championships were dated back in 1935 and 1938. Among the prominent alumni and former player of the TCU Horned Frogs football team are LaDainian Tomlinson (the MVP of NFL in the 2006-07 season), Jerry Gaither (an All-American consensus player for two times), Johnny Vaught and Davey O’Brien (a Heisman Trophy Winner).

The basketball team of the TCU Horned Frogs is not that celebrated as their football counterparts and not that known in collegiate basketball. In terms of NCAA appearances, they have done it in 1983, 1986, 1992, 1997, 199 and the last one was in 2005.

Since they will be playing now for the Big 12, no one knows how well they will fare in the big names in this conference like BYU and Texas A&M.
