There cannot be a story about Frankie Valli without mentioning sensational singing group The Four Seasons. This is because Valli is known for being the frontman of The Four Seasons in the 1960’s. But even as Frankie Valli became famous because of this group, he has proven to the music world that he can be on his own, given that he himself has scored several Top 40 hits. Most of the hits songs he recorded as a solo artist or with The Four Seasons were released in the 1960’s and many of them even became the theme songs of as many movie hits such as Dirty Dancing, Conspiracy Theory, Mrs. Doubtfire and The Deer Hunter. There is no doubt however that even in the modern music scene, Frankie Valli is as contemporary as any of today’s top hit maker. In fact, he and The Four Seasons have been acknowledged by many music aficionados as having influenced many of our famous recording artists. Lots of young people of the 60’s danced to his tune and still the same can be said of young people new millennium. Fans of The Sopranos will remember him as mobster Rusty Millio who perished in a hail of bullets. Tony Soprano even mentioned Frankie’s name when he said that he went to the same florist where Frankie bought flowers.

Let it not be said that Frankie Valli is back because for many of his fans, he never left the music scene. Although he suffered loss of hearing in the 1970’s, surgery helped restore his hearing in 1980. Again with The Four Seasons, he recorded and released an album entitled Hope and Glory in 1992. In 2004, the Broadway musical Jersey Boys opened in La Jolla Playhouse. It moved on to Broadway in 2005 and from there, it opened in several venues around the world. The show is all about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, thus effectively introducing Frankie to new audiences. The show features many real life accounts from Frankie’s life. It was awarded six Tony Awards including Best Musical.
