Animal Collective Tickets

Animal Collective originated from Baltimore, Maryland but are now based in New York City, having members who have named themselves in an unusual manner like Avey Tare whose original name is David Portner, Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin ( Josh Dibb) and Brian Weitz as Geologist. Their lineup is not uniform. The group not only sings but also runs a record label by the name Paw Track which is open for any artist.

Although the band has an obvious appeal of their wonderfully slanted songs, heartbreaking music and weird appearances but their proposition is not stable. They play under different names and different configurations. The guys were school friends who started to step into the music industry at a young age. Some of their music is inspired by beautiful pop ballads and some are noise-squalls and tribal rhythmic work-outs.

During their school times, they started an indie-rock band with some other guys at school, called Automine which in 1995, self-released their first and only record, the 7-inch-single, Padington Band.  Portner, during his teenage years wrote and performed the song Penny Dreadfuls with Automine. When the first Animal Collective album was compiled, this song was included in it.

This band experiments with music instruments and has invented new melodies.  Weitz and Portner, using a drum machine for the first time, started a duo called Wendy Darling whose sound matched with horror movie soundtracks.

"Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished" was the band’s first presentation, released on their label Animal in 2000.  In a live performance, they wore make-ups and masks which later appeared as the crucial and essential part of their live appearance but then stopped doing so in 2006. Weitz still wears a head lamp as he did from the start.

Their second album was "Danse Manatee" which was released in 2001.  Afterward, the band had a long tour of of one month in the company of their close friend, Black Dice.  This tour was captured in their next album "Hollinndagain" which was released in a limited edition of 300 copies only.  "Campfire Songs" was the following release, a repack of the first two albums and a collection of songs recorded live in rural Maryland on Catsup Plate.

"Here Comes The Indian" was the next release by the group.  Soon afterward, Weitz left the band for one year to to to school in Arizona.  In 2004, "Sung Tongs" was released which had strong harmonies, exotic texture, hummable melodies and freewheeling nature.  "Feels" was unveiled to the public in 2005 and "People" in 2006 which was their last album under FatCat Records. After this, they signed on with Domino.

On September 11, 2007, "Strawberry Jam" was released in the U.S. and received a critical applause for its strong focus on vocals. "Water Curses" was released in 2008 and "Merriweather Post Pavilion" in 2009.

Although the members of the group work in different configurations, it is to be acknowledged that Animal Collective is a genuinely thrilling live unit and the group members are very passionate regarding to their work. They are fearless to put themselves on the line and presenting everything they create before their fans.
